The feature is particularly useful in work phases where the bucket movements cannot be seen directly from the cab – in dredging work and other waterway or shoreline construction applications. The system displays the work area as a real-time color map, making it easy to see the progress of the work at a glance. Novatron’s Xsite 3D machine control system is developed in collaboration with excavator operators and includes much wanted features. This new auto-logging feature automatically creates a surface model of the cut, which is also visualized with colors on top of the design model. The visualization helps to estimate the amounts of needed fill materials especially in dredging, where the finished cut can not otherwise be seen. Use of Xsite 3D with new auto-logging reduces guesswork, speeds up work, and helps avoid over-excavation. The result is more consistent dredging work and a better overall view of work progress. In addition, the feature improves work safety and helps to control the impact of excavation work on the sensitive natural environment.
